How to Report Repeated Call and SMS Abuse in India

Prepare evidence and escalate repeated calls or SMS abuse through your carrier and official reporting channels in India.

What evidence to collect and how to explain repeated-call or SMS abuse clearly when requesting help.

Preserve evidence before clearing logs

Take screenshots showing timestamps, frequency, sender or caller identifiers, and any threatening content. Export or write down a timeline if the device cannot capture the full sequence.

Keep evidence private. Share it only through the carrier's official support process, workplace or school security, legal counsel, or an appropriate government reporting channel.

Contact the telecom operator

Explain that the issue involves repeated automated or coordinated traffic, provide the affected number and time window, and ask for a complaint reference. Mention whether numbers rotate, whether messages contain links, and whether service was disrupted.

  • Ask for a complaint/reference number
  • Record the support date and time
  • Describe the volume and duration
  • Request network-level spam controls

Escalate threats, fraud, or account compromise

Use official cybercrime or police channels when the incident includes threats, extortion, impersonation, fraudulent links, stolen credentials, financial loss, or repeated targeting after a clear request to stop.

For immediate danger, contact local emergency services rather than waiting for an online ticket response.

Write a clear complaint summary

Use a concise format: what happened, when it started, approximate volume, impact, evidence attached, actions already taken, and the help requested. Avoid speculation about the sender unless you have reliable evidence.

Follow up and secure accounts

Keep complaint references and follow up if the traffic continues. In parallel, review email, banking, messaging, SIM, and cloud accounts for suspicious sign-ins or recovery changes.
